BYOB- Build your own bottle - terrarium bottle that is!  Half day terrarium workshop with Frank Nuss.  Frank is a horticulture grad and miniature plant enthusiast, who propagates his own plants and loves the creative process of building terrariums.

We've all experienced the feeling of peace and beauty as we explore the great outdoors.  Now, we can feel this same peace as we bring to life our own secret garden within our very homes!

This workshop can be fun for all ages (mature children ages 12 and up are welcome).  During this workshop, you will build your own terrarium from an empty glass container to a finished masterpiece!  Terrariums done properly become self-contained, with low maintenance, so a green thumb is not necessary!

Participants may be quite surprised at the creativity in their own hands!  Some will be inspired to further their own collection of terrariums, make gifts for others, and even to teach others to do the same.

Please bring your own favorite clear glass container.  Since high humidity is needed for mosses and many of the miniature plants, please select one that has a top (glass or cork) in order to maintain high humidity levels.  Although, a wine bottle shaped container is possible to use; a container with a larger sized opening is much easier to work with. Potential glass containers can be found at antique shops, thrift stores, TJ Maxx, Wal-Mart, etc.  Also, feel free to bring your own favorite stones, shells, and pieces of driftwood to use in your builds. 

Supply fee includes gravel, substrate (soil mix), 4 miniature plants (enough for a medium-sized 5-7" diameter terrarium, 2 miniature vine cuttings, some moss pieces to seed your terrarium, and use of instructor's tools. Additional plants for a larger or second terrarium, mosses, driftwood, cork bark, and a few glass container choices will be available for purchase from the instructor.
