  • Artist Bio
Deb Williams is a multidisciplinary artist whose work spans more than two decades in cast and fused glass, mixed media sculpture, and imaginative explorations of the refined and the uncanny. Known for her technical mastery and her willingness to push material boundaries, Deb began her artistic journey in cast and kiln formed glass, developing a signature style that blends precision, luminosity, and organic form.

In 2022, her practice expanded into mixed media with a whimsical, provocative twist: vegan taxidermy and sculptural cryptids inspired by folklore, natural history, and the playful intersection of myth and material. These works combine her deep understanding of structure with her fascination for the mysterious, resulting in pieces that feel both familiar and otherworldly.

Deb’s creative life is enriched by an unusually diverse professional background. She has worked in interior and floral design, and the esoteric arts, including environmental energy work, hypnotherapy, and feng shui.

She continues to create from her studio in Asheville, North Carolina, where she brings together craft, curiosity, and often a touch whimsy.

    Artist Statement
My work is rooted in transformation — of materials, of meaning, and of the unseen energies that shape our world. For more than twenty years, glass has been my primary language. I am drawn to its contradictions: fragile yet enduring, fluid yet structured, luminous yet grounded. Through cast and fused glass, I explore how light interacts with form, and how transparency can reveal or conceal the stories embedded within an object.

In recent years, my practice has expanded into mixed media, where I create vegan taxidermy and sculptural cryptids inspired by folklore, nature, and the playful tension between reality and imagination. These works allow me to step outside the boundaries of traditional materials and embrace humor, curiosity, and the unexpected. They are artifacts from worlds that might exist just beyond our own.

My varied background in design, and the esoteric disciplines, informs my intuitive sense of space, symbolism, and emotional resonance. I approach each piece as an energetic container, shaped not only by form and color but by intention. I am fascinated by how objects influence the spaces they inhabit and how viewers respond to the symbolic and emotional layers within them. Whether working in glass or mixed media, my art reflects a lifelong commitment to transformation, storytelling, and the unseen forces that shape human experience.

Ultimately, my art is an invitation: to look closer, to question what is familiar, and to engage with the subtle magic that exists in everyday life.
