“Abstract Approaches to Landscape Painting with Oil and Cold Wax Medium” 2 Day Workshop with Cathyann Burgess

Level: Intermediate: some drawing and painting experience is necessary.
Student generated photo resources, Ipad or printed photo, or a failed painting,
sketchbook and pencils, apron required.
This class will focus on strategies to interpret the landscape in a personal, expressive
way rather than realistic rendering. The class will use oil paints and cold wax medium
and for some, may be an introduction to its use.
Demonstration of techniques, discussion of design and color concepts with guided
practice over the two day workshop by artist and teacher Cathyann Burgess, will
culminate in a small expressive painting by each student.
Ms. Burgess brings more than 30 years experience in teaching art in public private and
musem settings and to her classes, delivered with enthusiasm and a caring style. If you
